I think Canada and Russia are about even in terms of talent.

Now consider that even if Canada wins as expected tomorrow, they have to play a back to back against Russia, and Russia will have the advantage of seeing them the previous day.

The odds are out of whack, considering the difficult position Canada is in. Even if they beat both Germany and Russia, they'd likely draw Sweden, and then the Czechs, the Americans, or the Finns.

A parlay of beating: Germany, Russia, Sweden, and the US? +221 is a terrible payoff for that.

Brian Williams just came on NBC to talk about how people on the Internet are referring to the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics as the "Glitch Games".

There is no question that the Games have been very poorly run. There was the problem with hydraulics during the opening ceremonies, leading to one arm not rising to support the Olympic flame, the epic zamboni failures on the speedskating oval on Monday, February 15*, the shipping in of snow, and the officials screwing up the starts of both the men's and women's biathlons on Tuesday, February 16.

But all of that does not begin to approach what NBC has done. I don't even know where to begin with them. Most of the stuff they show is tape delayed, and that's the events they even bother to show. Yesterday they claimed they would show the men's 500 speedskating, but they never showed it. I watched or had someone else watching from 8 PM EST to 3 AM EST. Nothing. Today, they only had two hours of coverage before 8 PM, and all they showed was the biathlon. USA hockey, which is the biggest ratings draw, can only be found on cable. In fact, NBC is only showing one hockey game before the elimination rounds start! Here's the full schedule:
